LIMA — A man who broke into the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in downtown Lima reportedly stole some food but nothing else before leaving the center on foot.
Allen County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the civic center after an employee reported that an unknown male had broken into the building and was sleeping in the the employees’ office area, which had been locked by a cage divider.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s department on Monday said is is still unclear how the subject entered the building. The white male, described as having light-colored hair and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black pants and a black book bag, reportedly admitted to the employee that he stole food from the civic center. Nothing else was reported missing, police said.
The man then fled the business on foot and has not been located.
