Death in domestic dispute now believed to be suicide

LIMA — What initially was believed to be a homicide stemming from a domestic dispute is now believed to have been a suicide.

According to Sgt. Jason Garlock of the Lima Police Department, police were dispatched at approximately 7:40 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 700 block of North Main Street in reference to a disturbance. One male was found at the scene suffering from what Garlock termed superficial knife wounds and was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center for treatment.

One adult female was found deceased inside the residence from what police now believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident remains under investigation.
