BOTKINS — A Lima man was CareFlighted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with unspecified injuries following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 75 between Wapakoneta and Botkins.
According to a spokeswoman for the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:48 p.m. a Chrysler minivan driven by Brian Ellison, 46, of Lima, was traveling southbound on I-75 and failed to observe a semi tractor-trailer rig ahead of him had slowed. Ellison ran into the rear of the trailer, driven by Michael Goff, 36, of Corbin, Kentucky.
The vehicle was wedged under the trailer and Ellison had to be extricated by Botkins Fire and EMS crews.
Ellison was cited for an assured clear distance violation.
The southbound lane of the interstate was closed for nearly 40 minutes following the crash.
