Garage fire extinguished early Tuesday morning in Spencerville


SPENCERVILLE — Firefighters in Spencerville were dispatched at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday to a fire that destroyed a garage and cause heat and smoke damage to the house to which it was attached.

According to Fire Chief Dave Evans, firefighters upon their arrival at 309 Oak Drive found the garage fully engulfed in flames. The occupants of the home, Dennis Wells and his wife, were awakened by the sound of exploding gas cans in the garage escaped the blaze unharmed.

Evans could not provide a cause for the fire or a monetary estimate of the damage caused by the blaze, which remains under investigation.
