ELIDA — Steve Miller, of Elida, owns this beauty, a 1969 Ford Ranchero. He brought it to the Charity Car Show this summer.
“I bought it in Myrtle Beach. Drove 733 miles and got fuel four times. Drove through four states and under three mountains. It drives so nice,” said Miller.
Ford produced the Ranchero from 1957 to 1979. The utility vehicle sold so well that GM entered the market with the 1959 Chevy El Camino.
Ford advertised the 1969 Ford Ranchero as “the hi style hi performance pickup.”
The vehicle attracted consumers who wanted style along with the ability to make it a work truck. The versatility of the two-door model sold itself.
“These are pretty cool vehicles,” Miller said.
