LIMA — Sheila Colley, of Lima, has owned this 1969 Plymouth Satellite convertible for eight years. She took it to the Charity Car Show in June.
Colley’s husband, Buster, purchased the car for her prior to his passing away with cancer.
“He was adamant about finding me a 1969 Satellite. My first new car was a red Satellite, so it was his desire to find me a 1969 Satellite,” Colley said.
Colley’s car went through a complete restoration.
“And I helped re-do it,” she said.
The Plymouth Satellite was introduced for the 1965 model year on the Belvedere line. It was available in a two-door hardtop or two-door convertible model. The second generation Satellites, which include model years 1968 through 1970, saw the introduction of the V8 engine to the car. A four-door sedan and station wagon were also added to the Satellite line up.
When Buster located the car for his wife, he was pretty sick.
“My most important memory of the car is how family and friends helped with it, going and picking it up in the winter of 2011. They still help me when I need them. Car people are just good people,” Colley said.
