LIMA — Law enforcement personnel from agencies throughout Allen County will go shopping with 79 children Saturday during the annual Cops and Kids event.
The day will begin at 8:45 a.m. when the children, chosen by their schools, will be transported from the Fraternal Order of Police lodge to Meijer. There, the children will be paired with law enforcement person and will shop for clothing, essentials and Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
Following the shopping the group will return to the FOP lodge, where volunteers and the children will wrap gifts and enjoy pizza provided by TJ’s Pizza.
The program is funded by the Charitable Fraternal Order of Police, Lima Lodge 21’s “FOP Cops and Kids” program.
After this year’s event, 627 children will have benefited from this program since 2008.
