LIMA — After a five-month renovation, the Fritz family opened its third Ace Hardware location Friday at 3720 Elida Road.
The new store, the former Masterson’s Ace Hardware, is owned by Eric Fritz, Jeff Fritz, Kylie Wrasman and Andrew Mancinotti.
The business began with Edward Fritz who started in the hardware business over 60 years ago. Eric Fritz, Edward’s son, purchased a store at 242 N. Main St., Delphos. Jeff Fritz, Eric’s son, later became a part of the operation in Delphos.
In 2014, Eric Fritz, Jeff Fritz and Mancinotti purchased the Lima Bargain Center, 3700 S. Dixie Highway, Shawnee Township.
“We love the small business feel, and since Masterson’s was trying to sell and go out we knew that people like small business and they wanted something here so we figured it was our opportunity to come in and bring them what they want,” said Wrasman.
“When someone walks through the door, we expect our employees to great them and ask ‘what can we help you with’,” said Wrasman. If you walk through this door and don’t get that, then we are not okay with that. Ace the helpful place is the slogan and there’s a reason for that.”
Employees at Ace Hardware can help customers with any home improvement questions, said Wrasman.
“It’s very common at our stores for people to bring an item in and say ’ I need something, but I don’t know how to do it’,” said Wrasman. “Whether it’s plumbing or a broken doorknob, we are here. We have a helpful hub for a reason because we want to be able fix their problems even if they don’t know how to fix it.”
