Northwest Ohio Literacy Council to hold a New Volunteer Tutor Training Session (November 7th, 2018)
(Lima, OH) – The Northwest Ohio Literacy Council is planning a new tutor training session for volunteers that will be held on Wednesday November 7th from 1 to 3 PM at the Lima Adult Learning Center located at 563 West Spring Street. A light lunch will be served at that time.
This training session will introduce all the aspects of becoming a tutor and give attendees an opportunity to meet the staff. If you have two hours a week and a desire to share your love of reading with adults, together we can help make the Lima region a better place to live, work, and enjoy life.
About the Literacy Council – We provide free adult tutoring in math and reading, which is done on a one-to-one personal basis. In addition, we provide: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) - Our ESOL program is designed to teach the English language, whether spoken or written.
It is estimated that 50% of the chronically unemployed have poor literacy skills, 75% of U.S. prison inmates do not have a high school diploma, and limited levels of literacy cost U.S. businesses and taxpayers $20 billion in lost business earnings, wages and taxes.
