KENTON — A suspicious package forced the evacuation of the Hardin County Courthouse Wednesday in Kenton.
According to a news release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, at around 11:30 a.m., they received a report from Hardin County Job and Family Services that they had received a suspicious package through the mail.
Investigators arrived on the scene along with members of the Kenton Fire Department. At that time the decision was made to evacuate the building until the package could be rendered safe.
After investigating, it was determined the package was safe, and the Courthouse Annex building was reopened at 3:30 p.m.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kenton Fire Department, Allen County Regional Hazmat Unit, The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification and Ohio Northern University.
