LIMA — An unknown substance leaking from a truck leaving the Husky Lima Refinery has caused several Lima streets to be closed off.
According to Andy Green, a lieutenant with the Lima Police Department, the truck left gate 4 at the Husky refinery off of Collett Street, traveled south to Fort Amanda Road to Buckeye Road, then from Buckeye Road, north on Metcalf Street. From Metcalf the vehicle traveled north over the bridge to Vine Street, then went westbound on Vine to Holly Street, where the truck was stopped.
It’s believed the chemical that leaked was an ingredient used to make asphalt.
The public is urged to avoid contact with the chemical.
