Mercer Co. Sheriff gets road safety grant

CELINA — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received a $34,194 grant allowing the department to better focus on reducing traffic-related fatalities and serious injury accidents in Mercer County.

The two focus areas funded by the grant will allow deputies to spend more time looking for subjects driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and keeping motorists safe by enforcing driving laws.

“As we enter this fall, we would remind drivers that farm equipment is out at times late at night, so please use extra caution and don’t drink and drive. The risk you take is not worth the results,” Sheriff Jeff Grey said.
