Dublin man dies following wrong-way crash on U.S. 30 in Van Wert County


CONVOY — A Dublin man has died as the result of injuries suffered early Monday in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Van Wert County near the Ohio-Indiana state line.

According to a report from the Van West post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash took place on U.S. 30 in Van Wert County at approximately 12:23 a.m. when a GMC Sierra operated by Oscar Garcia Barrios, 29, of Grover Hill, was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 in an eastbound lane and struck an eastbound BMW driven by Kwi Cho, 31, of Dublin. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes.

Cho was trapped inside his vehicle and required extrication, the report said. Both Cho and Barrios were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where Cho died at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday.

U.S. 30 eastbound was closed for a time following the accident. The Van Wert post was assisted by the Convoy Volunteer Fire Department and EMS personnel, Van Wert Fire and EMS, Van Wert County Sheriffs Office and Delpha Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
