Ottawa juvenile arrested after note threatening Continental school

CONTINENTAL — A 13-year-old boy from Ottawa was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated menacing after he was found to be in possession of a hand-written note which threatened harm to students at Continental High School with a weapon.

According to a statement issued by Continental Police Chief Arnie Hardy, a local medical facility first reported the possible threat. Hardy said officers from his office and the Ottawa Police Department located the hand-written note at the boy’s home in Ottawa. The boy was arrested and transported to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center. He was scheduled to appear at Putnam County Juvenile Court on Wednesday to answer to the first-degree misdemeanor charge.

The Continental Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident, Hardy said. Assistance was provided by the Putnam County Juvenile Probation Department and the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.
