Belmore man flees deputy, but cannot hide from drone


LEIPSIC — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office unleashed every tool in their arsenal to locate a fleeing suspect Saturday evening.

Alexander Luis Pardo, 25, of Belmore, was seen running out the back of a residence and into a cornfield at approximately 6:56 p.m. Saturday at 1382 Road Y northwest of Leipsic, when a deputy stopped for a follow-up.

According to a Putnam County Sheriff’s Office press release, Pardo had an active felony warrant. A drone, personnel and multiple K-9 units were called in to help with the search for Pardo.

A drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera located Pardo at 8:13 p.m and he was taken into custody without further incident.

According to the release, Pardo was arrested on two Putnam County felony warrants for indictments on drug charges and he also has on outstanding felony warrant from Van Wert County.

Pardo is being held at the Putnam County Adult Detention Facility.

Putnam County K-9 Nero was on scene and assisted by K-9 Sonny from Hancock County and K-9 Deke from the Findlay Police Department.
