LIMA — A Lima man entered pleas of not guilty to rape, kidnapping and aggravated burglary during his arraignment hearing Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court.
Lameka Kitchen, 30, was indicted by the recent session of the Allen County grand jury on three counts of first-degree felony rape. He was also charged with aggravated burglary and kidnapping, also first-degree felonies. The incidents all stem from an alleged sexual attack earlier this year against a woman with whom Kitchen had a prior relationship.
According to court documents, Lima police were dispatched on Aug. 17 to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in reference to an alleged sexual assault that took place in the 700 block of South Elizabeth Street.
The victim told investigators she was asleep in her locked residence when she was awakened to Kitchen performing a sex act upon her. The woman said she told Kitchen to stop but he refused, according to court documents, and that he later engaged in sexual intercourse with her against her will.
Kitchen was arrested and the following day allegedly told police investigators the sex was consensual. He denied breaking into the victim’s residence, court records show.
Police reports, however, show fingerprint smudges were found on several windows, including a second story window that had been forced open. Police believe that is where Kitchen entered the home.
