Putnam County Common Pleas Court

Sept. 7

Jacob D. Rader, 25, 116 E. Poplar St., Leipsic, pleaded guilty to attempted felonious assault. He faces up to 36 months in prison and $10,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a presentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 10 a.m. Oct. 26.

Nicholas T. Huizenga, 29, 2764 Road 22B, Continental, pleaded guilty to violating a protection order predicate offense. He faces up to 36 months in prison and $10,000 in fines. Bond was modified to $50,000 while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 11 a.m. Oct. 5. A charge of burglary was dismissed.

Justin W. Sergent, 30, 509 W. Main St., Leipsic, pleaded guilty to domestic violence. He faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5.

Sept. 11

Larry D. Davis, 65, 21076 Road D, Continental, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (cocaine). He faces up to 12 months in prison and $2,500 in fines. Bond was modified $50,000 while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 9:30 a.m. Oct. 15.

Sept. 12

Zachariah R. Casteel, 20, 8892 Road A-7, Leipsic, pleaded guilty to sexual battery. He faces up to 60 months in prison and $10,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 10 a.m. Oct. 24. Casteel was charged in connection to an incident April 6, 2018 when Casteel admitted using force or the threat of force to compel a 15-year-old girl into having sexual intercourse with him

earlier this year.

Sept. 13

Kyle L. Unverferth, 40, 110 W. North St., Kalida, was sentenced to 10 days jail for three counts theft in office. He was given credit for one day served and must complete psychological treatment at Pathways Counseling Center and pay $1,584 in restitution. He was ordered not maintain employment, not use illicit drugs or alcoholic beverages, or prescription medications without a valid prescription. Unverferth, the former Union Township Fiscal Officer, was accused of stealing a Dell laptop and computer tower belonging to Union Township trustees.

Putnam County Municipal Court dispositions

Sept. 10

Adam J. Unverferth, 27, 10591 Road I-9, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to second-offense OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 135 days suspended, $1,000 fine, $475 suspended, three-year license suspension, and complete drug/alcohol assessment. Charges of lanes of travel and seat belt required were dismissed.

Sept. 11

Cody D. Flores, 20, 364 E. Main St., Apt. 1, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to drug abuse/possession. Sentence: $150 fine. He was also found in violation of probation. Sentence: 25 days jail.
