Columbus Grove man seriously injured in ATV mishap


VAUGHNSVILLE — A Columbus Grove man was seriously injured Monday evening when he was ejected from the all-terrain vehicle he was operating in a one-vehicle accident.

According to a report from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, John Fisher was driving the ATV westbound on state Route 189, west of county Road 17, in Sugar Creek Township at approximately 7:25 p.m. Monday when he swerved to miss an animal in the roadway. Fisher was ejected from the ATV and struck the pavement, causing injuries to his head and lower extremities. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the report.

Fisher was transported via Life Flight from the scene to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in critical condition.

This incident remains under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Kalida EMS, Putnam County EMS, Kalida Fire Department, Kalida Heavy Rescue and The Shop Towing assisted at the scene.
