LIMA — Lima police are searching for a man who committed a strong-armed robbery early Friday morning in the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant in the Clock Tower Plaza on North Cable Road.
According to a statement from the Lima Police Department, at 6:15 a.m. Friday, a black male, described as being in his mid- to late 20s and wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt, approached the vehicle of a 60-year-old female, who was sitting inside her parked car at the restaurant.
The suspect pulled down the window of the vehicle, which was already partially down, and reached inside the car, according to police, pinning the female to her seat and using his forearm to restrain her neck and head. He removed the woman’s cell phone and purse as she attempted to fend him off, according to the report.
Once the suspect had the purse and cell phone, he fled on foot eastbound into the neighborhood west of Cable Road and south of Latham Avenue. The suspect discarded the majority of the property as he made his way through the neighborhood, only keeping what he felt was of value, according to police.
This was the second robbery in that area within the last week, and both were committed by unknown black males, police said. It is unknown if they are connected.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lima Police Department, Detective Steve Stechschulte at 419-221-5181 or CrimeStoppers at 419- 229-STOP.
