Shawnee liquor establishments pass underage sales test with flying colors

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee Township Police Chief Michael Keith reports that a recent undercover operation focused on the sale of alcohol by local businesses to underage patrons resulted in a 100 percent compliance rate among those establishments.

On Tuesday, the Shawnee Township Police Department used a 20-year-old police academy cadet and attempted to purchase alcohol at eight township businesses.

Keith said employees at the Shawnee Fuel Stop, Dollar General, Rite Aid Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy, Short Stop Drive Thru, Low Bobs, BP Fuel Station and The Pony Keg all checked the person’s ID and all refused to see alcohol to the underage individual.
