LIMA — The Allen County Engineer’s Office wants the public to be aware of a bridge closing next week.

According to a news release, the Slabtown Road bridge over Sugar Creek will be closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The bridge is located between Sugar Creek Road and Lutz Road in Bath Township. The contractor, R & I Construction Inc., will replace the entire structure as well as improve the roadway approaches for a contract price of $521,692.50. The scheduled completion date is Oct. 1, weather permitting. Eighty percent of the project cost will be funded by a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission, and the remaining 20 percent will be paid for with county engineer funds.
