Lima man killed in I-75 crash


WAPAKONETA — Troopers from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday on Interstate 75 near Wapakoneta.

According to a news release, at approximately 2:50 p.m., troopers responded to a 1989 Honda Civic on Interstate 75 two miles north of Wapakoneta that crashed in the median. The vehicle was originally in the left lane traveling southbound when it went off the left side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected traveling into the right lane, then overcorrected again returning back to the left lane. The vehicle continued off the left side of the roadway into the grass median and struck the cable barrier.

The driver, 35-year-old James McClintock, of Lima, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries sustained during the crash. He was transported to Eley Funeral Home.

The seat belt was not being worn at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
