LIMA — Darrel and Beth Kistler, of Lima, brought their 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30 to the Lima Chevrolet Cadillac Charity Car Show recently.

The Kistler’s have owned this beauty since September.

“This is the first appearance,” said Darrel Kistler.

Oldsmobile produced the Olds 442 in 1964, in answer to the muscle car wars. The 442 came from the car’s four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission and dual exhausts. The W30 is a performance package which included a cold-air intake system, internal engine tweaks and other modifications.

The marketing department at Oldsmobile advertised the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 by saying, “We take the fun of driving seriously.”

The Kistlers most likely would agree.
