Family Promise chosen to participate in homeless prevention partnership

LIMA — Family Promise Lima/Allen County has been selected to receive a grant as part of a national partnership between Family Promise and Help Us Move in.

The Allen County Family Promise program is one of 10 affiliates selected to participate in this pilot round of the partnership. Each participating affiliate receives a $20,000 Homeless No More Challenge Grant from HUMI over two years, $10,000 per year. The grants must be used by Family Promise to create sustainable programs which will prevent homelessness in the community and rehouse homeless families.

In order to receive the grants, the Family Promise affiliates must match the $10,000 with its own funds first. The next year the affiliate must raise $20,000 before receiving the second $10,000 grant. This requirement was designed by HUMI in the hopes each Family Promise affiliate could engage the community in assisting with the effort to prevent family homelessness.
