Reward offered for information on Greenview Church arson

PLATTSVILLE — Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of the arson of Greenview United Church of Christ, which happened at 5:17 p.m., Aug. 21, 2017, at 3041 Leather Creek Road, Plattsville. Authorities this week renewed their efforts to find the people responsible.

After firefighters with the Port Jefferson Fire Department extinguished the blaze, detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office discovered evidence the fire had been purposefully set. Despite the conventional and unconventional methods used by both the detectives and the State Fire Marshall’s Office, the arson investigation is still ongoing.

Since the fire, Greenview United Church of Christ rebuilt and began holding services again.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshall’s Office are offering a $5,000 reward for any information which leads to the arrest of those responsible for the fire.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation should call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 937-498-1111. The identity of any callers will remain anonymous and confidential.
