LIMA — Lima area law enforcement and firefighters are teaming up with the American Red Cross for the annual Battle of the Badges blood drive to increase the number of blood donations made during the summer when donations often decline. The Battle of the Badges will be Aug. 7 and 8 at the American Red Cross in Lima, with a goal of 107 donations.
The Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition between firefighters and police officers to see who can bring in the most blood donations. The community is invited to join the battle by coming to give blood and voting for either the police or the firefighters to win the competition. These donations are used to support patients at more than 80 hospitals across Ohio and Indiana.
