Accused Lima rapist pleads to lesser charges

LIMA — A Lima man charged with two counts of rape pleaded no contest to reduced charges earlier this week in Allen County Common Pleas Court.

Jeremie Fuson, 43, appeared Tuesday before Judge David Cheney and — per an agreement with prosecutors — entered the pleas to two amended charges of gross sexual imposition, felonies of the fourth degree.

Fuson was indicted in November 2017 on two counts of rape, first-degree felonies, for engaging in sexual conduct with another “by force or threat or force.” The alleged incidents took place on or about June 23 of last year.

The victim in the case was given the opportunity to speak in open court, and Cheney then found Fuson guilty of the lesser charges.

The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for 1 p.m. Sept. 17.
