One life-flighted after two-vehicle crash in Putnam County


CONTINENTAL — One person was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima after being injured in a two-vehicle crash which took place at 3:55 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Roads E and 22 in Putnam County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cindy R. Adams, 58, of Oakwood was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix on Road E and was stopped at the Road 22 intersection. Adams entered the intersection into the path of an oncoming 2012 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Mikayla R. Mayes, 16, of Lexington, Kentucky, leading to a collision.

Adams was seriously injured in the crash and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, where she is currently being treated in the intensive care unit. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Mayes, along with passenger McKenzy Mayes, 13, were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Fire and EMS, Continental Fire and EMS, Mercy Health Life Flight and R&O Towing all provided assistance at the scene.
