Motorcyclist hit, driver skipped after Bath Twp. crash


BATH TOWNSHIP — The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-skip crash that left the driver and a passenger injured.

According to a news release, it happened at 9:33 p.m. Thursday, on state Route 309 at Thayer Road, east of Lima.

The motorcycle, driven by Tyler S. Farler, 26, of Lima, was eastbound on state Route 309. The hit-skip vehicle was southbound on Thayer Road. The hit-skip vehicle ran the stop sign and was struck by the motorcycle. The hit-skip vehicle fled the scene.

Farler was transported by Bath Township EMS to Lima Memorial Health System for treatment of serious injuries.

His passenger, Michelle A. Smith, 28, of Lima, was transported by Perry EMS to the same hospital where she was treated and released.

Farler and Smith were not wearing hemets.

The crash remains under investigation.
