Girls Scouts adds 30 new badges for girls to earn

LIMA — The Girl Scouts announced the organization has added 30 new badges available for girls ages 5 to 18.

The badges will cover areas of study covering societal needs including environmental advocacy, mechanical engineering and computer science. The new cyber security badge will teach girls in grades K-5 about online safety, privacy settings and how to spot cyber crime.

Some new badges cover life-related subjects, such as the College Knowledge badge, which shows junior and senior high school girls how to research financial aid, the college admission process and other important college-related information.
