LIMA — One man is dead and a male relative was in custody Monday afternoon following what Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia termed a “suspected murder” that occurred just south of Lima earlier in the day.
Treglia said the county dispatch center received a 911 emergency call at approximately 11:06 a.m. Monday in reference to an individual who had been severely injured. Deputies, along with personnel from the Perry Township EMS, responded to a home at 311 E. 14th Street, and a male was pronounced dead at the scene. The manner of death was not immediately revealed.
The sheriff said one male — reportedly a family member of the deceased man — was taken into custody at the scene and was being questioned by detectives Monday afternoon.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called in, at Treglia’s request, to assist with the investigation and to aid in crime scene processing.
No names have yet been released as the investigation continues. No suspected motive or additional information was provided. The sheriff said additional details — including the names of the victim and the suspect — will be released as early as Tuesday morning.
Treglia said Monday afternoon that the incident is being treated as a suspected homicide.
