Lima man, woman die in head-on collision Tuesday

LIMA — A fatal car accident claimed the lives of a Lima man and woman Tuesday night.

Jack H. Harmon, 88, and his passenger, Charis L. Rex, 87, were taken to Lima Memorial Hospital after Harmon’s 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was struck head-on by a 2006 International Harvester semi operated by Jamal H. Adan, 34, of San Antonio, Texas.

According to a Ohio State Highway Patrol press release, Harmon was traveling west on state Route 117, west of Brentlinger Road, when Adan’s vehicle, traveling east, crossed the center line and collided with the Malibu.

Harmon and Rex were pronounced dead at the hospital by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Adan was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries by Harrod EMS.

According to the highway patrol, alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the accident. All occupants involved were wearing their seat belts. The accident remains under investigation.
