LIMA — The Lima Fire Department responded to a fire on one side of a ranch-style double rental property at 2:27 a.m. Tuesday at 1139 Catalpa Ave.

Fire was visible in the front bedroom when firefighters arrived on scene, and the occupants evacuated the building, said Battalion Chief Jack McDermitt. There were no injuries reported.

“It looks like it went out really quick,” McDermitt said. Lima Fire Department was back in service at 4 a.m.

The fire was contained in the bedroom and hallway of the unit. McDermitt said the property was a partial loss, sustaining $12,500 in property and content damage, compared to the building’s estimated value of $24,100. According to the Allen County Auditor’s website, the property is owned by Milton and Mary Webb.

McDermitt said the arson investigator was called to the scene, and the fire is still under investigation.
