Two men face sex-related charges in separate Van Wert cases


VAN WERT — Two Van Wert County men appeared in Van Wert Common Pleas Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to sex-related charges in separate cases.

Josh McGinnis, 36, of Convoy, entered pleas of not guilty to charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a second-degree felony, and two counts of failure to register, a third-degree felony. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety and pre-trial hearing was scheduled for 8 a.m. on June 20.

Dezmond Bywaters, 26, Van Wert, pleaded not guilty to three counts of importuning, fifth-degree felonies; one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, felonies of the fourth degree; and nine counts of illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented performance, all fifth-degree felonies. Bywaters was released on a surety bond with electronic house arrest. A pre-trial was set for 8 a.m. June 20.
