Blanchard River set to crest before hitting minor flooding stage

OTTAWA — The Blanchard River will stop rising in Ottawa before it hits the minor flooding stage, according to projections by the National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service.

The river hit 21.56 feet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, which is its projected crest. The minor flooding level is 23 feet. Heavy rain recently brought the river level up, including putting water into fields near the river.

The Blanchard reached its action stage of 20 feet at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The river is projected to be out of its 20-foot action stage by 2 p.m. Wednesday as it recedes.
