LIMA — In an effort to celebrate the role of men in the family and in the community, Cornerstone Church in Lima is holding an “Every Man” event over Father’s Day weekend, Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17.
“It really is to bring men together from all walks of life. We don’t see much of that, almost at any time, other than a football game. So we’re just trying to really put our efforts toward starting somewhere and getting the fire going so we can really begin to draw men from all over to begin to put their faith forward as well as leading their families in our community,” said Herb Ford, administrative pastor at Cornerstone Church-Lima Campus.
The event starts from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 16, with a men’s breakfast. There is a $10 registration fee for the breakfast. Register at www.everymanweekend.com. That breakfast will be attended by Lima Mayor, David Berger, Lima Police Chief, Kevin Martin as well as special guest, Akin Ayodele, who will speak on the importance of male involvement in the community.
“We are bringing in Akin Ayodele, who is a former NFL linebacker, to speak and he will also be there (at 10 a.m.) on Sunday, in a panel-like interview type of thing,” said Ford.
