LIMA — There were three fatal traffic accidents resulting in four fatalities in May on Allen County roadways, according to a report from the Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition.
The coalition also reported Allen County has seen four fatal accidents and five deaths for the last five months in 2018, compared to four fatal accidents and four deaths over the same time span in 2017.
Safety belts were not in use in two of the four accidents, and in one involving a motorcycle, a helmet was used.
Each traffic accident fatality costs a total of $5.8 million according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The total costs for fatal accidents in 2018 is $29.05 million so far.
