John Hoorman, of Ottawa, was the first person to salute his grandson Bradley Radabaugh, son of Mark and Paula Radabaugh of Lucky, Ohio, after he was commissioned as a United States Air Force 2nd lieutenant.


OTTAWA — John Hoorman, of Ottawa, was the first person to salute his grandson Bradley Radabaugh, son of Mark and Paula Radabaugh of Lucky, Ohio, after he was commissioned as a United States Air Force 2nd Lieutenant.

His grandson’s commission, presented by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and AFROTC Detachment 157, Florida, was the first time in 57 years Hoorman wore his own U.S. Air Force uniform after serving from 1956 to 1960.

AIR FORCE

• U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman 1st Class Anthony Baughman graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2017 graduate of Ottawa Glandorf High School, Ottawa.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Isaac A. Carpenter graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2017 graduate of Liberty-Benton High School, Findlay.

• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Desmond D. Daniel graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Daniel is the son of Willamena F. Daniel of Lima.

He graduated in 2012 from Lima Senior High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2017 from Wittenberg University, Springfield.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Allison Dauterman graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Dauterman is the daughter of Todd Dauterman and step-daughter of Lashell Dauterman of Pickerington. She is also the granddaughter of Jane and Pete Temple of Celina.

Dauterman is a 2016 graduate of Pickerington High School Central, Pickerington.

• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Josiah J. Jester graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2018 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine.

•U.S. Air Force Airman Devin M. Smith graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Smith earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is a 2013 graduate of Elida High School.

U.S. Air Force Airman Jared A. Trabert graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2017 graduate of Riverside High School, Degraff.

NAVY

•A Lima native and 2003 Lima Central Catholic graduate is serving in the U.S. Navy aboard one of the world’s most advanced nuclear-powered submarines: USS Providence.

Petty Officer 1st Class Anthony Jahnz works as an information systems technician serving aboard the Groton-based submarine in the U.S. Navy.

A Navy information systems technician is responsible for managing the unclassified and classified networks, hardware and software and is the technical subject matter expert.

• A 2009 Lima Senior High School graduate is serving in the U.S. Navy supporting nuclear-powered, fast-attack, submarines homeported in and visiting the Groton, Connecticut. area.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon Wright is a logistics specialist.

A Navy logistic specialist is responsible for expediting material for waterfront boats and ensuring they have the necessary materials for a long period of time.

MARINES

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Kyle Altstaetter, a Columbus Grove native, is currently participating in Exercise Balikatan in the Philippines.

Balikatan, which is in its 34th iteration, is an annual combined joint military exercise that takes place at various locations across the Philippines, where U.S. and forces work together on various activities and events to include school renovations, amphibious operations, health engagements, and subject matter expert exchanges.
