Real Wheels: 1987 Chevy Corvette Convertible is a real looker

CONVERSE — Clair Crider, of Converse, owns this 1987 Chevy Corvette convertible. He has owned it since 1988, having purchased it at Lima Cadillac. Crider also owns a 1966 Chevy Corvette, so there is no denying his love for fast, sporty cars.

This 1987 Corvette contains a 352 port injection engine, and has all original 1987 parts. The convertible came back to the Corvette model in 1986 after having been gone as an option for more than ten years. The Corvette had began as a convertible, so the return of a convertible after the discontinuation in 1976 brought back a nostalgia Corvette enthusiasts clamored for.

“Everything is original on it,” said Crider.

The 1987 Chevy Corvette received new roller lifters in the engine giving the engine 240 horsepower, which is five more than the 1996 model.

“My wife drove it back and forth to work,” said Crider. “Now we don’t hardly drive it.”
