LIMA — A Wednesday evening kitchen fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damages to a Lima residence.
According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, firefighters responded at approximately 7 p.m. to 319 W. Haller St. in reference to a house fire. Upon their arrival, firemen found smoke coming from the downstairs area of the home and quickly extinguished a small blaze in the kitchen area. All occupants of the residence had safely evacuated prior to the firefighters’ arrival. The cause of the fire is not known.
Damage was confined to the downstairs portion of the home, although there was heavy smoke damage throughout the residence, according to the spokesman, who said the fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the structure and $5,000 to contents of the home.
The structure is owned by Amy Donnelly.
