PERRY TOWNSHIP — Acting Fire Chief Justin Roberts was confirmed as Perry Township’s new fire chief during Tuesday night’s meeting of the Perry Township Trustees.
Roberts, 29, has spent a little over a decade with the fire department and has acted as assistant fire chief since 2015. His salary was set at $52,000.
Roberts’ promotion comes two months after former Perry Fire Chief Rick Phillips had been put on paid administrative leave following an emergency executive session trustees held to discuss employee compensation and discipline. The trustees officially accepted Phillips’ resignation last Friday.
“The chief served the community for a number of years, and we wish him the best,” Trustee Board Chairman Norm Capps said. “We’re looking forward to moving on with continuing the success of the department.”
