LIMA — The Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center Foundation is continuing its efforts to raise money for upcoming shows.
From 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through June, the Friends of Town Square Live will be hosting fundraisers at the Happy Daz Patio at the Civic Center.
The event features live entertainment, a cash bar and a chance to win a Broadway Series Subscription in a raffle.
“The Civic Center Foundation just kicked off the Annual Giving Campaign so that we can raise funds to continue bringing increasing arts programming for the Allen County Community. Something we started in 2014 is Town Square Live, which is the Town Square Live Series. It’s a series of about 15 to 17 shows now. Originally it started as four shows, but with the amount of funding that the Civic Center Foundation has been able to put towards the series, we’ve been able to increase that to 15,” said Jeremy Martinez, Director of Development for the VMCCC Foundation. “It’s the main income basically that the Civic Center Foundation receives and if we just put it back towards the community.”
“You’re going to see shows like The Four Tops, Clint Black, Choir of Man. Some of the main shows that we’re going to see are the Broadway shows ‘Wizard of Oz,’ ‘Cinderella,’ ‘Rock of Ages’ and ‘The King & I.’ Some of the big country names that you’re going to see are Clint Black and Dwight Yoakam. We have a lot of family shows. We have ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar,’ ‘Peg + Cat’, which is a children’s series which is very popular with the kids right now,” he said.
If you’re interested in details of the series contact the Civic Center Box Office at 419-224-1552.
The next fundraiser will be held May 16 with Marty Ennis performing.
Other fundraisers will be held on May 23 with Chris Brokamp, May 30 with Steve “Hendy” Hendershot, June 6 with the Dave Liles Band, June 13 with Bryson Freytag, June 20 with Dean Alstaetter and June 27 with Stedic & the Groove.
