WAYNESFIELD — A Lima woman was arrested Saturday in Auglaize County on a variety of outstanding felony arrest warrants issued by authorities in Indiana and Ohio.
Samantha Jane Helton, 29, was arrested by officers from the Waynesfield Police Department on theft warrants issued in Auglaize and Seneca counties in Ohio and Allen and DeKalb counties in Indiana. Helton was a passenger in a vehicle operated by her husband, Kyle J. Helton, 31, also of Lima, at the time of her arrest.
Upon stopping the vehicle and before officers made their initial contact, the couple kissed and Samantha Helton could be heard saying goodbye, according to a statement from Waynesfield police.
Kyle Helton then advised the arresting officers that he did not have a valid driver’s license. Samantha Helton provided the wrong Social Security number multiple times when she was asked for identification, however she did admit to having warrants for her arrest in Seneca County in Ohio, DeKalb County in Indiana, and Allen County, Indiana. She told police she was not aware of warrants pending against her in Auglaize County.
Kyle Helton, who had 10 active suspensions on his driving record and 10 prior driving under suspension convictions, was issued citations for driving under suspension and speeding.
An 11-year-old and a 3-year-old child, along with Kyle Helton, were released to family members at the scene. The vehicle was towed.
The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
