LIMA — A Lima man pleaded guilty Wednesday to reduced charges of rape and sexual battery and was immediately sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Robert Wilson, 48, was indicted in February by an Allen County grand jury on four counts of first-degree felony rape, eight counts of third-degree felony sexual battery, and four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the third degree.
On Wednesday he accepted a negotiated plea deal from prosecutors and pleaded guilty to a single count of rape and four counts of sexual battery.
The charges stem from alleged sexual encounters Wilson had with a young girl that police say took place between Jan. 1 and Nov. 7, 2017. According to court documents, Wilson confessed to police and detailed more than 14 sexual encounters, all but two of which occurred with the girl was 12 years old.
Upon his release from prison, Wilson will be required to register as a Tier 3 sex offender for life.
