LIMA — The United Way of Greater Lima, the United Way of Hancock County, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the West Ohio Food Bank are partnering to collect food for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
On May 12, individuals are encouraged to leave food at their mailboxes, which will then be picked up by letter carriers. Last year, over 15,000 pounds of food were collected and donated to the West Ohio Food Bank through the event.
Non-perishable food items will be accepted. United Way discourages glass containers, open containers or expired foods.
It is estimated that over 16,000 people in Allen County are food insecure, according to Feeding America.
