VAN WERT — A Willshire woman died Sunday evening in western Van Wert County from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash.
According to a statement from Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach, Christina Dellinger, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday on state Route 81 between Willshire Eastern and Harrison Willshire roads.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 2012 Lincoln MKZ driven by Tim Dellinger, 56, of Willshire, appeared to have left the right side of the roadway, came back onto the pavement and then left the roadway again, striking a ditch and coming to rest in a field.
The driver was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne by Lutheran Air.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff. Both the driver and passenger are not believed to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and the investigation of the crash is continuing.
Assisting at the scene were Wren Fire and EMS, Willshire Fire Department, Van Wert EMS, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Straightline Body and Paint.
