SPENCERVILLE — Larry and Sharon Seibert own this beautiful 1970 Mercury Marauder. They’ve owned the car for approximately ten years now. Larry purchased the car from his uncle, who had bought it brand new.
“My uncle had it and he bought it brand new in Cleveland. He worked at the Cleveland plant, and so when he came back here he asked me if I’d be interested in it. I said I would,” said Seibert.
The Mercury Marauder was marketed as a personal luxury car, going against the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado. The car was designed to cover the gap between the Mercury Cougar and Lincoln Continental Mark III. The car was discontinued after the 1970 model year.
The car is all original, with only 20,000 miles on it.
“It’s had no touch ups or anything. Factory vinyl top and color,” said Seibert.
Seibert takes the car out, “once in a while when it’s not raining.”
“I’ve been to car shows, but they go for the sports cars, not the big boats,” said Seibert.
