Huber Heights townhome fire sends one to hospital

HUBER HEIGHTS — Crews responded to a fire in a townhome that was occupied by two people Sunday morning in Huber Heights.

Medics tended to one person found in the back yard and had to remove another from the townhome located in the 7000 block of Mount Hood around midnight, according to Battalion Chief Greg Baumle.

One person was taken to a hospital, but their condition was not known, Baumle said.

Crews were aggressive in putting out the fire that is currently under investigation, Baumle said. He believes unattended cooking may have been the cause, though.

Red Cross was on scene to help the occupants who were displaced after the fire. The other townhomes were not affected.

Baumle said the smoke detectors notified the occupants and possibly saved their lives.

A suburb of Dayton, Huber Heights is located approximately 8 miles northeast of downtown Dayton.
