RIDGEWAY — A suspect is being sought in connection to a motor vehicle theft and subsequent pursuit by deputies.
At approximately 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies received a complaint of a vehicle being stolen from a residence at 20087 county Road 199, near Ridgeway. The homeowner saw the vehicle being driven from his driveway and followed it, directing responding deputies to his location. Deputies found the vehicle entering Logan County, leading to a low speed pursuit west on county Road 40. The vehicle was driven off the south side of the roadway into a field, where attempts to stop it were unsuccessful. The vehicle exited from the field, jumping over the road and continuing for nearly a mile before the vehicle came to rest in a large drainage ditch. The driver then fled the scene on foot, with deputies unable to locate him, despite an extensive search.
The suspect is believed to be a white male, aged late teens to early twenties; slender build and wearing glasses. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt which was pulled over his head at the time.
The stolen vehicle sustained heavy disabling damage. A Hardin County Sheriff’s cruiser sustained light damage.
