LIMA — Lou Varrato, of Lima, brought his 1967 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport Pro Street to the Lima Auto Mall Charity Car Show in June. Sitting at home was his 2012 Chevy Camaro SS and a 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Yep, Varrato owns more vehicles than he has drivers for.
Varrato graduated high school in 1967.
“These cars were big back when I was in high school, but I couldn’t afford one then,” said Varatto. “When I was in school, I would daydream about cars. School wasn’t important; cars were … and girls.”
The Chevelle was produced by Chevrolet from 1964 through 1977. It competed against the Ford Fairlane. The Chevelle SS was Chevy’s introduction to the muscle car battle.
Varrato raised five kids, and it was after they were out of the house that he started purchasing his dream cars.
“Now I’m not taking food off the table,” said Varrato. “I have fun and enjoy them. It’s just a car thing.”
